Fall Break Oct. 16th - 20th

Our second graders have been diving into Ancient Greece! Mrs. Leighton’s class even made their own crowns, just like the ones worn by champions in the original Greek Olympics.

We couldn’t be more grateful for our new lunch tables (our fabulous custodians are especially thrilled)! The old ones were worn out and difficult to put up and take down, so this upgrade feels like such a luxury. We’re so excited to put them to good use!

Congratulations to our winners of the annual coloring contest sponsored by the Santaquin Fire Department to raise awareness for fire safety! We sure have some talented students here at Orchard Hills!

Reminder: Picture Retakes are coming up soon! If you missed picture day the first time around or you would like retakes done, Bell Photo will be at Orchard Hills on Wednesday, October 22nd. To prepay online, click the link and use the code below.

Happy National Custodian Day to our hardworking custodial staff!

Our Grade Level Students of the Month for September enjoyed a special Pizza Party with Mrs. McEntire! She treasures the individual time she gets to spend with each student and loves getting to know them better. Congratulations to our September grade-level winners for being such positive examples to their peers!

Congratulations to our Students of the Month for September! Way to go on being positive examples on forming healthy connections with others. Keep up the great work! Please click on the link to view the slideshow of our winners.

We have some exciting lunch items that will be offered during the month of October. First up...Mummy Dogs on Thursday, Oct. 2nd! Keep your eyes out at the end of the month for Spider Web Waffles and Candy Corn Parfaits!

Don't forget to sign up for SEPs! Teachers will be sending out sign-up sheets so please make sure you are checking your email.

HUGE thank you to the Springville Walmart for their amazing generosity! From school supplies to lunch boxes, binders, and folders, your support helps our staff give students what they need to shine in the classroom. We are so grateful!

Josh Allen is the author of several wonderful horror books for children including “Only If You Dare—13 Stories of Darkness and Doom” and “Once They See You—13 Stories to Shiver and Shock.” His books have the perfect blend of spine-tingling suspense, weirdness, and surprise kids love without excessive gore or violence. They even have glow-in-the-dark covers.
Josh is an educator with over twenty years in the classroom and is currently an English Professor at BYU Idaho. He’s passionate about inspiring kids to read and write. He’s also great at helping parents, teachers and librarians understand the importance of letting kids choose their own books and explaining the value of the Horror genre in children’s literature. (Gasp! Right? We’re converts ourselves.)
An entertaining speaker and storyteller, Josh will surely share a few spooky stories in his presentation. He’ll have his audience shivering one minute, laughing the next, and leave them pondering new ideas and perspectives. We know, because some of our staff were introduced to him at the Books For Young Readers Conference a few years ago, and came back raving about his class. We can’t wait to share that experience with you and your students.

No School on Monday, Sept. 15th. Teachers will be engaging in a district develpment day.

We have an incredibly rare opportunity to participate in the 9/11 Remembrance Event being held at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. This is not just for students, it is for all our families. Please take some time today , Thursday, September 11th through Saturday, September 13th from 9 am to 9 pm to attend this wonderful event. We are so grateful to the Major Brent Taylor Foundation for putting on this event and helping us to "REMEMBER".

We want to say THANK YOU to Jaron Davis, the manager at the new Les Schwab here in Santaquin, for nominating Orchard Hills Elementary to receive a free assembly from Mike the Magician! It was such a joy to see the excitement and awe on the faces of our students. Both students and staff loved every minute of it! We are so grateful for the wonderful support we receive from our amazing Santaquin community.

Did you know that the United Way has a Community Center in Payson? Check out the schedule to see what exciting classes they are offering now through Dec. 5th!
